New Moon Challenge
A new challenge is up at the Noel Mignon Challenge Blog and this time we are doing a NEW MOON CHALLENGE based on the book by Stephenie Meyer. :) Virginia Tillery came up with all the fun elements of this challenge. Come and check it out!
The book "New Moon" by Stephanie Meyer is all about change and moving on. The author stated that the reason behind the title is because whenever there is a new moon, the night is very dark; just like this time in the protagonist's journey in the book. Sometimes when you are going through changes, it's hard to see the end result and if you are going to get your "happy ever after."
Using this thematic element from the book, do a layout based on a major change that happened in your life. It doesn't have to be when life was "dark" for you; not all change is bad or as dramatic as it was for Bella!
Also include:
-the colors black, white, and red
-flowers (like the cover of New Moon)
-text/book paper (it doesn't have to be from the book- I wouldn't ask you to tear up a Twilight book! )
-a charm of some sort (to represent the charms that Edward & Jacob gave Bella)
-a little bit of bling or sparkle (hello- because the vampires are sparkly!)
This challenge runs from today through December 4th. So be sure to add you link up in the comments section so I can find you and add up your work.
Here is my take on the challenge. I decided to do my page about becoming a mom and beginning our family. I threw myself into motherhood wholeheartedly. As a result, I lost a sense of personal identity for awhile. It took me a few years (and getting into scrapbooking -- i.e. *MY* time) to find a good balance. But I wouldn't change this experience for the world. Becoming a mother has taught me so much about myself and the kind of person I want to be. :)
Beginning Our Family

I used bits and pieces from past Noel Mignon kits as well as lots of SHIMMERZ. I dragged black ink over the chipboard pieces and then misted them with Licorice Spritz by Shimmerz Paints.
Have a great week!

More Robots Unplugged
I have a few more projects to share with you using the My Little Shoebox "Robots Unplugged" collection. This is the time of month where you will start seeing the My Little Shoebox blog updated a lot as all the design team projects start rolling in so be sure and check it often over the next couple of weeks! :D :D :D
FAT CAT'S ARCADE- For my son's birthday he chose to go to a place called Fat Cat's here in Utah. I hadn't scrapped these yet because I was having a really tough time finding papers that worked with the dark photos and psychedelic colors of the arcade games. Robots Unplugged to the rescue!!!! I love how these pictures came together with these papers!!!
I love the way the Sprinkle Glazed Letter stickers by My Little Shoebox looked like they were lit up. I added Glossy Accents and mini glass micro-beads to the chipboard letters to continue that look. I also used Fruit Punch Stickles on the robot to make him "blink". :D
I used the Cuttlebug Embossing Folder "Stitched Circles" on the circle diecut and then sanded away the ink on the paper to reveal the white core below. It's a little hard to see, but I also used the "Distressed Stripes" Cuttlebug folder on the star paper behind the photos to add a bit of texture. :)
And Pixie Dust Blingz by Shimmerz on the background stars to make them "twinkle". :D
BIRTHDAY BLUR - This month the Design Team was asked to scraplift a page from one of our very own designers, Michelle Lanning. This is the page by Michelle that I was assigned to lift. Michelle is a great friend of mine and an INCREDIBLE designer!!! I LOVE to study her pages and was thrilled for the chance to lift her! :D :D :D
And here is my take on it. -- The pictures I take of the kids opening their birthday presents in the morning ALWAYS turn out cruddy. I really need to practice low-light situations. *sigh!* One of these days I'll get it. But in the meantime, my kids will have blurry, out-of-focus pictures to remember these mornings by. LOL!

Finally, I have a few robot cards for you! :D I think the Meep! Meep! one would be so fun for a birthday card. Again, I accented the robots with lots of Pixie Dust Blingz by Shimmerz to make them look like they were lit up and blinking.

Have a wonderful weekend!

The Sky is Falling! The Sky is Falling!
Did I catch your attention?! YES! A meteor went through the sky last night, just after midnight. Here are the pictures from our security cameras (the time says 1:07 because we haven't changed the time when Daylight Saving Time changed). I was on my computer facing away from the computer, but Kevin saw it! He yelled up the stairs to me, "Jana! Did you see that?! Did you see that?!" It was about 8 seconds long, but I was lost in internet-surfing-world.
It was so bright, that it turned off the street lamp! It actually looks like mid-day in these pictures. How neat is that?!
GO HERE to see the local news coverage story. WOW!!! So cool!!!

***********************************************
The Cuttlebug Challenge Blog has asked me to come on as a designer and I couldn't be more thrilled!!! :D :D :D The gals over there are dripping with creativity. You should see the things they create with the Cuttlebug embossing folders!!! WOW!!! I love my Cuttlebug embossing folders and can't wait to push the limits in applying them to my scrapbook pages! WooHOOOO! Thank you, Maggie, for this wonderful opportunity!
Right now they are having a blog hop. Go to this post at the Cuttlebug Challenge Blog for more information and to get started! Have fun!
Well, I had to make a page using the Cuttlebug to go along with my fun news. So here is one using the Robots Unplugged Collection by My Little Shoebox .

I used the Tiny Bubbles Embossing Folder on the chipboard letters. To accent the texture I filled in each little circle with Tickle Me Turquoise Shimmerz by Shimmerz Paints . (I also accented the robot and his ice cream cone with Tickle Me Turquoise, Poinsettia Pink, and Key Lime Shimmerz. The ice cream cone is accented with Pixie Dust Blingz to make it sparkle.)
The circle die cut with the number "6" on it is embossed with the Stitched Circles embossing folder. I dragged a black ink pad across the raised area to highlight it. LOVE the look of it!

For the bookpaper ruffles, I used Eucalyptus and Baby's Breath Spritz by Shimmerz. Love the way it adds texture and dimension around the page.
I will start my official Design Team duties for the Cuttlebug Challenge blog in January. Watch for those projects beginning after the New Year.:D :D :D
Thanks for letting me share!
See you again soon!

Guest Designing @ A Million Little Things
When Jill at A Million Little Things asked if I would join them for the month of November and provide a sketch for their Sketch Challenge I was THRILLED!!! I have been shopping at A Million Little Things for years. She *always* has the latest-and-greatest up on her site the minute it is available. It's the perfect place to find what you need!
On the A Million Little Things blog, Jill asked me a few spotlight questions. If you'd like to see that you can CLICK HERE. :)
You can also see the sketch I provided for the month. The deadline is in TWO WEEKS, November 27th. So there is plenty of time to play for a chance at one of Jill's FABULOUS prizes.
I created three layouts based on the sketch (rotating it in different directions). These pages feature a mix of manufacturers: Basic Grey (Nook & Pantry), Sassafras Lass, Prima, Hambly, October Afternoon Letter stickers, and a flower by Bella Blvd.
TEA PARTY - All Maryn could talk about this year was having a "fancy" tea party with her friends. It was such a fun day and the girls were so cute and "proper."

GOOFY - Jensyn loves to pull silly faces when I'm trying to take a picture of her. I don't think this stage is going to end anytime soon! LOL!

YOU - One morning I walked into my bedroom to find Camryn snoozing on a pillow. It was so cute because before she fell asleep she made little pillow-bed for each of her stuffed animals. So sweet! :)

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great weekend!

I have a layout and a couple of cards to share with you today. (Click on any image to see it larger)
Hansel & Gretel & Gretel & Gretel - Last year my daughter's made gingerbread houses at their cousins house. The minute they walked in the door all they wanted to do was start nibbling away at all their hard work! I was so surprised! It was all I could do to snap a few pictures before their houses were gobbled down! LOL! Well, atleast they shared with their siblings, right?!
Patterned Paper, Letter stamps, Stickers by Adornit . The glittered floral sprigs are from Michael's. To change the color of the Thicker letter stickers to match the other glittered elements on my page, I coated them with Glossy Accents and then sprinkled them Martha Stewart glitter. The stamped red letters are my favorite letter stamps by Adornit . I used red ink and then gave them some shimmer with Pixie Dust Bling by Shimmerz Paint . LOOOOOOOVE this stuff! I use it on everything! And it is the perfect accent to your winter & holiday pages that you want to shimmer and shine!

Ho, Ho, Ho and Snowman Cards - Patterned Paper, Stickers, Stamps, and Ribbon are all by Adornit .

I used Shimmerz Paint to fill in my stamped images and make them shimmer and shine. So magical for the holidays! The colors I used are Fire Engine Red Shimmerz, Olive Green Shimmerz, Angel Wingz Shimmerz, Coffee Shimmerz, Marigold Shimmerz, and Sky Blue Shimmerz (to shade the white areas of the images).

Thanks so much for coming by! Your next stop is Becky Williams' blog !
I hope to see you again soon!

Bookpaper Leaf Rubbings
It's my turn to on the Noel Mignon Tip & Technique blog this week and this is what I came up with. :)
Looking for a new way to add leaf accents to your pages? Try this technique! :) This is something I saw on THIS BLOG where she made larger leaves for a decorative garland, I thought it would be great to use on a smaller scale as page accents.
First, you will need to collect various leaves from your yard/neighborhood. Collect small, medium and large ones so you have a variety of sizes to work with on your pages later on.
Then you will need some kind of bookpaper and several colors of crayons with the wrappers removed.
Next, place your leaf vein-side up underneath the bookpaper. Use the side of the crayon and rub over the top to create a leaf rubbing. The darker colors show up better. Try layering a few colors for variation!

Look how many different kinds you can make! :D
Cut out your leaves and now you are ready to accent your pages!

I Love You All the Time
This is my very favorite thing Camryn says to us these days. It makes my heart smile every time I hear it because I know it is her way of telling us she loves us very much. :) Don't you just love the sweet ways preschooler's express themselves? :D :D :D
This page was created using the beautiful Noel Mignon Mill Street kit (sorry, sold out). I added a Heidi Swapp Ghost Frame to the corner of my photo as well as the Prima Rosey Gallery Roses. And if you know me, you know that I can't leave flowers alone . . . I gave the roses a wash of Gold Glimmer Blingz by Shimmerz. Gold Glimmer Blingz is a new favorite of mine! (Note to Self: Order some more soon! You are almost out!!! ACK!!!)

I want to share with you some sneak peeks of Noel's Christmas kit, the "Dear Santa" kit. Isn't it gorgeous?!! And this isn't even everything that will be in it . . . there will also be Collage Press and October Afternoon. WoooHOOOOOO!!! :D :D :D Can't wait to get my hands on this baby! I promise I'll let you know when the PreOrder button is up. ;)

Yummy Pumpkin Recipe
I hadn't yet made anything with pumpkin for the season so last night I pulled out my Kraft Food & Family magazines (if you don't subscribe to these, you need to! Soooo many delicious recipes that are easy and family friendly!) and found this delicious recipe in the Fall 2007 issue.
I just HAD to share it here because it is a new FAVORITE! YUUUUUUMMMMMMM! If you like Spice Cake you will LOVE this cake. :) It is so moist and delicious . . . definitely family party or potluck perfect! :D (photo from Kraft Foods website)
PUMPKIN SPICE FROSTED SNACK CAKE
1 pkg. spice cake mix
1 can (15 oz.) pumpkin
1 cup Miracle Whip Dressing
3 eggs
FROSTING:
1 pkg. (8 oz.) cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup butter, softened
2 Tbsp. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 pkg (16 oz.) powdered sugar (about 4 cups)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Great 9 X 13-inch baking pan; set aside. Beat cake mix, pumpkin, dressing and eggs in large bowl with electric mixer on medium speed until blended. Pour into prepared pan.
Bake 32 to 35 minutes or until wooden toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool completely in pan on wire rack.
Beat cream cheese, butter, milk and vanilla in large bowl with electric mixer on medium speed until well blended. Gradually add sugar, beating after each addition until well blended. Spread over cooled cake. Cut into pieces to serve. Store any leftovers in refrigerator.
Enjoy!
