It's my turn to on the Noel Mignon Tip & Technique blog this week and this is what I came up with. :)
Looking for a new way to add leaf accents to your pages? Try this technique! :) This is something I saw on THIS BLOG where she made larger leaves for a decorative garland, I thought it would be great to use on a smaller scale as page accents.
First, you will need to collect various leaves from your yard/neighborhood. Collect small, medium and large ones so you have a variety of sizes to work with on your pages later on.
Then you will need some kind of bookpaper and several colors of crayons with the wrappers removed.
Next, place your leaf vein-side up underneath the bookpaper. Use the side of the crayon and rub over the top to create a leaf rubbing. The darker colors show up better. Try layering a few colors for variation!

Look how many different kinds you can make! :D
Cut out your leaves and now you are ready to accent your pages!

Guess what else I have for you? Two more sneaks of the upcoming Noel Mignon "Dear Santa" kit. This will be up for preorder on November 15th. :D :D :D

See you again, soon!

I Love You All the Time
This is my very favorite thing Camryn says to us these days. It makes my heart smile every time I hear it because I know it is her way of telling us she loves us very much. :) Don't you just love the sweet ways preschooler's express themselves? :D :D :D
This page was created using the beautiful Noel Mignon Mill Street kit (sorry, sold out). I added a Heidi Swapp Ghost Frame to the corner of my photo as well as the Prima Rosey Gallery Roses. And if you know me, you know that I can't leave flowers alone . . . I gave the roses a wash of Gold Glimmer Blingz by Shimmerz. Gold Glimmer Blingz is a new favorite of mine! (Note to Self: Order some more soon! You are almost out!!! ACK!!!)

I want to share with you some sneak peeks of Noel's Christmas kit, the "Dear Santa" kit. Isn't it gorgeous?!! And this isn't even everything that will be in it . . . there will also be Collage Press and October Afternoon. WoooHOOOOOO!!! :D :D :D Can't wait to get my hands on this baby! I promise I'll let you know when the PreOrder button is up. ;)
Better yet, if you'd like an email notification you can sign up for Noel's Newsletter by shooting her an email at noel@noelmignon{dot}com. Noel Mignon also has a facebook page HERE. Or you can follow Noel Mignon on Twitter. OR, even better, come and hang out with us on the Message Board! ;)

And this is the fabric that is going to be in the kit . . . CUTE!!!!!
Have a wonderful day!

Yummy Pumpkin Recipe
I hadn't yet made anything with pumpkin for the season so last night I pulled out my Kraft Food & Family magazines (if you don't subscribe to these, you need to! Soooo many delicious recipes that are easy and family friendly!) and found this delicious recipe in the Fall 2007 issue.
I just HAD to share it here because it is a new FAVORITE! YUUUUUUMMMMMMM! If you like Spice Cake you will LOVE this cake. :) It is so moist and delicious . . . definitely family party or potluck perfect! :D (photo from Kraft Foods website)
PUMPKIN SPICE FROSTED SNACK CAKE
1 pkg. spice cake mix
1 can (15 oz.) pumpkin
1 cup Miracle Whip Dressing
3 eggs
FROSTING:
1 pkg. (8 oz.) cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup butter, softened
2 Tbsp. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 pkg (16 oz.) powdered sugar (about 4 cups)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Great 9 X 13-inch baking pan; set aside. Beat cake mix, pumpkin, dressing and eggs in large bowl with electric mixer on medium speed until blended. Pour into prepared pan.
Bake 32 to 35 minutes or until wooden toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool completely in pan on wire rack.
Beat cream cheese, butter, milk and vanilla in large bowl with electric mixer on medium speed until well blended. Gradually add sugar, beating after each addition until well blended. Spread over cooled cake. Cut into pieces to serve. Store any leftovers in refrigerator.

Halloween 2009
We had a great Halloween this year! Kevin didn't have to work because it was Saturday and it was so nice to have him with us as we Trick-or-Treated at our Gramma's and Grampa's. :)
I thought I'd pop on here real quick and share some photos of the kids. :)
Jensyn as Cleopatra
Owen as Indiana Jones
Maryn as Little Red Riding Hood -- wearing the exact same costume my mom made for me when I was little. :)
Camryn as a super scary (well, atleast SHE thought so. LOL!) Witch

And here's a layout of all four of us at my mom's house. I'm looking quite haggered in this picture. LOL! But what mom DOESN'T look pooped on Halloween night, right?! LOL! Layout created using "The 31st" kit by Noel Mignon.

I also got a TREAT of my very own yesterday! :D :D :D I was accepted onto the Zva Creative Design Team!!! I'm so excited to work with their gorgeous, blingy products! :D :D :D I'm also looking forward to working with these other great designers!

My Little Shoebox - Little Ladies Collection
It's the end of the month and that means that I have a few more My Little Shoebox projects to share with you. :)
This month I worked with the Little Ladies line. I've been looking forward to doing this line because I have a paper named after me in this collection. How cool is that?!!! I know, I get excited about the little things . . . but really, I can't see that happening again in my lifetime, so I think it's cool! :D :D :D What paper is it?! It's the one with the ladybugs all over it. :) Sweet, huh?!!
Two of a Kind - (Based on a sketch by Allison Cope for Let's Capture These Sketches ) Maryn and her cousin are such good friends. It's no wonder, because they are a lot alike. I had to giggle at them when I snapped these pictures of them. I didn't say anything to them, but they both ended up with the same expressions on their face each time. Too funny!

Our Sweet Girls - I've been wanting to do a page of my girls for awhile now. I thought this was the perfect collection to create it with. :)
I used a lot of the Little Ladies Die Cuts on this page . . . two of them to create the flowers.

Maryn's Phone Numbers - My kids are too young for cell phones, but I still want them to feel like they are able to call a family member if they need to. It's hard for them to remember their own phone number, let alone other people's phone numbers; so I create these little phone books to attach inside their backpacks with a keyring. If there is an emergency at school or a friend's house, they have all the information they need at their fingertips to get hold of someone they know and trust.

As always, don't forget to check out the My Little Shoebox blog to see what all the other designers have been creating!
Happy Scrapping!

Winter, Summer AND Fall!
Check out the view from my scrap room today. YIKES!!! Snow!!! I sure hope it doesn't stick around for Halloween!
For my last page at Ally Scraps this month, I scrapped these pictures from our last summer vacation. I used a mixture of Jillibean Soup and Scrap Within Reach . The brads and chipboard letters are from my stash.
Have I told you how much I love Scrapbooks Etc. Quick Pages? I love that I can cram a bunch of photos together in a streamlined collage. :) Perfect for vacation pages like this one. :)
Thanks again to Cathy, Dana and everyone else over at Ally Scraps for having me for the month! I had a great time! :)

Now for some bittersweet news. :( This page is my last page for Urban Anthology as a Design Team member. Kari has decided to close the kit side of her business to concentrate on her Scrapbook Retreats. (You can read the official announcement here on the Urban Anthology blog .) The store, blog and forum will remain open, so please stop in if you are feeling the need for inspiration. :)
Her last kit, Snowed Inn, will be up for sale and shipping shortly. I grabbed one for myself, so you just may see a couple more pages from me, but not officially as a DT memeber.
I created this page using the October 2009 "It Leaves You Breathless" kit. I added the letter stickers, buttons, and blue flower from previous Urban Anthology kits. The paper leaves are painted with a wash of Spiced Cider Blingz by Shimmerz Paints. The ink misted in the background is actually Walnut Ink . . . yep the kind from six years ago. Normally, I would use my Spritz's, but I didn't want a Shimmer effect on the background this time around, so I used my Walnut Ink.

I'll leave you with a peek of Urban Anthology's last kit, Snowed Inn. (Full reveal will be up Nov. 1st)
Thanks, Kari, for a great experience! I wish you all the best and continued success on your retreats!

Halloween Challenge
A new challenge is going up on the Noel Mignon Challenge blog today . . . a Halloween Challenge!!!
I created these two pages using "The 31st" kit.
I LOVE those sparkly chipboard pieces in there and had a great time layering the green swirls from the Pink Paislee alphas with the orange shapes by American Crafts.

Maryn - I know you've seen this shot of Maryn before. The reason you are seeing it again is because I like to scrap my kids Halloween shots two times. Once for their School album and another one for our family album.

Happy Halloween! (it's just a few days away! Eeeeeek! I LOVE this holiday!!!)

Let's Capture These Sketches
This week at Let's Capture These Sketches I turned the sketch on it's side to create my page. I love the colors of the Little Lady Collection by My Little Shoebox and thought it would work great for these pictures of my kids hanging out in the hot tub. Their four little faces popping up over the edge of the hot tub just made my heart smile and I had to grab this snapshot! :) I'm so lucky to be their mom. :)
I used one of the sentiment stamps from the My Stamp Box "No Place Like Home" stamp set to create a page accent to tuck in with the handcut mushrooms.
Hope you are enjoying your weekend!

Hello Card
For this warm & cozy "Hello" card using the CPS sketch, I decided to make my own bookpaper flower. I used Spiced Cider Blingz by Shimmerz Paints and the flat, round end of my paintbrush to paint the polka dots onto the diecut bookpaper flowers. When they were dry I scrunched them up and then layered them with a felt flower and glazed brad.

I love the friendly feel of the polka dots . . . perfect for a note to a friend.
Supplies: Spiced Cider Blingz, Noel Mignon "Mill Street" kit, additional patterned papers by Collage Press, string
Thanks for coming by!

More Noel Mignon Mill Street
It is such a beautiful, Fall day! The sun is shining but there is a lovely Fall nip in the air. :) It seems like the leaves have all decided to change colors this week and the atmosphere around the city is just magical! I love the warm colors and the leaves beginning to shower down to the ground. Aaaaah! Love it! I wish I could freeze it this way for a little while longer! :)
I've been playing around with my Noel Mignon Mill Street kit some more (sorry, sold out) and I thought I'd share those with you today.
Grow - Maryn really changed over the summer. I snapped this picture of her out in the yard the other day and when I opened it up to edit it, I couldn't believe how much older she looked to me! Last year, we would really struggle through homework together. I think she's a little bit of a perfectionist and every time I'd try to gently correct her while reading, she'd get all worked up about it and just want to QUIT. And frankly, so did I! LOL!
This year it's a completely different story. Things are coming much easier for her and we really enjoy our time together going over her assignments. No more arguing or hurt feelings. It's almost like her brain needed the summer to mature and catch up a bit. I am so very proud of her! She is a great student and soaking up every minute of first grade!
Fall - When I have lots of pictures with a lot going on, I like to group them together in a streamlined block. I also do less layering and keep my embellishments straightforward.
I used the Maya Road stamps from the kit to create the pattern on the Kraft cardstock.
******************************************
Here's another example of me keeping things simple when the pictures are busy. These pictures of Owen's birthday party have a lot of people in them and a lot going on. I decided to let them do the talking and keep my design calm (unlike the party that day). :) (Papers are by Scrap Within Reach and Jillibean Soup)
This page was done for the Ally Scraps blog along with a sketch I designed. Here it is if you would like to save it for your files. :)
Have a great day!

Let's Capture Sketch, Bella Blvd. and an Event for a Great Cause!
This week's sketch at Let's Capture These Sketches Blog was a really fun one designed by Tara. Here is my take on it using My Mind's Eye Ooh La La! For Him. (letter stickers are by Sassafras Lass)

*******************************************
Did you see the new release by Bella Blvd ? Check out their two new lines coming out just in time for the holidays; Honey, I'm Home and December Details Today I wanted to share with you a couple of pages using the NEW December Details collection. Love the colors in this collection! They remind me of the bright happy colors of Christmas lights.

I'll be back sometime soon with my pages created with the "Honey, I'm Home" collection.

Also, I wanted to mention a VERY EXCITING event that I'm going to be a part of. Note these dates on your calendar and sign up for as soon as you can. It is the Charity: Extravaganza at The Studio. Friday, Friday!
Happy Friday, Everyone!
I have a couple of pages I wanted to share with you before the weekend. :)
Harvest - This is my first page using the brand new Noel Mignon Mill Street kit! (only 7 left!) I ADORE this kit!!! The colors in this kit are so much fun! Lots of warm fall, colors, but also a hint of pink and turquoise. :) I decided to do a non-traditional fall color scheme and play up the pinks/red/gold/blue in the kit.

I can't wait to dive into this kit some more! It's INCREDIBLE!!!
***********************************************
This second page is one that was published in the Fall issue of Scrapbook & Cards Today. LOOOOVE this magazine! It's gorgeous! And the best part is you can download it for FREE!
I used the Nikki Sivil's "Henry's Brilliance" collection for this page.
Thanks so much for stopping by!
Have a wonderful weekend!

Urban Anthology and A Little Shimmerz, too!
I've been doing a couple of projects with the Urban Anthology October kit (only 2 left!) and thought I would share them with you.
Handsome - This is the picture I took of Owen for his Baptism invitation. It was one of those moments where you look at your child in a new light and realize just how fast they are growing up on you.
I had fun playing with the transparencies from this kit on this one and love the subtle way they give homes to my title and journaling.
July - Yep! I'm still scratching away at my summer pages! :) These are pictures of us on our annual 4th of July picnic with my BIL & SIL and their family.
Give Thanks Door Hanger - Included in the kit is this really COOL shaped acrylic page by Prima. I wanted to do something special with it and decided it would be really fun to make a Thanksgiving Season door hanger for our back door. If you'd like the instructions to this project check out the Urban Anthology blog HERE.
I added Gold Glimmer Blingz by Shimmerz to the leaves and flowers. I love the way these paints make a simple paper embellishment into something SPECIAL like THAT!!! Fun stuff!
Well, that's all for now. But I'm still creating! Check back soon for more!
Hugs,
Jana

Pumpkin Patch & Ally Scraps
This past weekend we went to our favorite pumpkin patch, Black Island Farms in Syracuse, Utah. They have so many fun activities and the kids always look forward to going. I was worried that it would be crowded on a Saturday, but it wasn't. We had a wonderful time!
Sorry for the picture-heavy post. :) It's just that this is my FAVORITE outing of the year. :)

First stop, the animals! Isn't that baby Black Belly sheep CUTE! It was so tiny! It looked like a soft, fuzzy stuffed animal you'd put on a child's bed. :)
The kids favorite part of the animals was this contraption they had set up to feed the goats. You could put some food in a cup and then pully it up to the goat waiting at the top. LOL! Too funny!

After going down the hay slides a few times the kids decided to tackle this two-story slide they built.
Camryn went down the first time with Kevin, but after that she wasn't scared one bit and went again and again on her own.
Taking a break at the playhouse. :)
There was a barrell train pulled around by a four-wheeler. Another favorite!
Playing in the corn kernal "sand" box. :)
Cam wasn't too sure about this corn maze stuff. She wanted OUT of there!
I think the corn maze put Cam in a bad mood because she would NOT get off the hay ride to come and pick her pumpkin in the field.

Fun times!!! :D :D :D
**************************************
This week at Ally Scraps I played with the October Afternoon Ducks in a Row collection. I love the ABC paper and thought it would be perfect for Camryn's first day of preschool pictures. I used Fancy Pants Kraft Kuts 2 and American Crafts Cinnamon Thickers. The journal block is by Jenni Bowlin. The buttons and string are from my stash.

Happy Fall to you!
Jana
